Biography

Alessandro Bertacchini graduated in Computer Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2001. He received the Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Management Engineering Enterprise Integration between (Curricula Industrial Electronics) from the same University in 2005. Since december 2005 he is with DISMI at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as assistant professor. In 2006 he co-founded XBW srl a Spin-Off of University of Modena and Reggio Emilia active on the design and realization of x-by-wire systems and mechatronic solutions. Since 2007 Alessandro is member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers) and IEEE-IES (Industrial Electronic Society).

Research Interests

His research activity has been concerned with the following topics: energy harvesting systems from renewable sources for ultra low power applications like autonomous sensors, wireless sensor network and body nets; design and optimization of high efficiency energy harvesting circuits; characterization of energy transducers from different sources; design and characterization of MEMS energy transducers; IC and PCB design; x-by-wire systems and fault tolerant architectures for safety critical applications .

He has co-authored several papers published in refereed international journals and in proceedings of international conferences, and one book chapter.
